No wonder Mughal emperor Shahjahan was amazed by the pristine beauty of Kashmir and felt like being in heaven!
India is a vast country with tremendous diversity in various aspects which probably one cannot experience elsewhere in the world. Kashmir stands at the extreme north of Indian subcontinent which is heavenly considering its natural beauty and landscape. A trip to Kashmir was always in my mind but was not possible earlier due to one reason or the other, especially owing to the political disturbance in and around the area. Last year, we had been to a six night family trip to Kashmir.
We had an excellent trip. The weather was perfect. We could visit all the spots we had planned. We enjoyed a lot and shall cherish these memories forever.
September 25, 2015 : Delhi to Srinagar (Indigo flight) (1245 - 1415 hours)
Reached Srinagar and took a taxi to reach New Jacqueline Heritage houseboat on Nigeen Lake. It was Eid and it was difficult to get a taxi from the airport. It is better to pre-book a taxi on such holidays. We had a complimentary Shikara ride from the bank to reach our houseboat.
